Celebrating art and culture
One of the most wonderful celebrations of arts and culture, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival is a momentous occasion that sees hundreds of artists and performers take to stages dotted across the city. And, the festival really is for everyone. From unknown artists to well-known names in entertainment, you can enjoy theatre, circus, dance, cabaret, musical, opera and children’s shows alongside exhibitions, events and poetry to name a few!
Fringe tips
Not sure where to start when it comes to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2022? We recommend donning your walking shoes, heading into the heart of the city and grabbing an official Fringe programme which offers visitors a recommended route that takes in each of the performance sites.
There’s always well-established performance areas on the Royal Mile and the Mound Precinct, and this year’s street events will also take place at new locations in East Princes Street Gardens, St Andrew Square, Multrees Walk and Cathedral Square outside St James Quarter too.
Gelato treats
Taking in all the amazing artistic sights and sounds is fun, but don’t forget to take a ‘sweet’ break and give yourself a cooling treat with a freshly churned gelato from Alandas!
Alongside our usual shop on Forrest Road (which is a quick, two minute walk from Greyfriars Kirkyard) we also have handy pop up gelato stalls at both George Street and George Square!
What flavour will you go for? All of our flavours are proudly influenced by authentic and traditional Italian gelato. Come and see the latest array we have on offer, including Amarena Cherry, which is one of the most popular gelato flavours in Italy. The rich, tart flavour of cherry balances the smooth, sweet gelato base to create a perfect, winning combination.
Seafood at the Fringe
Fancy a heartier bite to eat after a day of art and culture? We’re also serving our famous Seafood and Fish and Chips at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2022! Usually found at our sites in Prestonpans and Longniddry, you can now taste our legendary bites in the heart of the city. And with such tasty, freshly cooked offerings such as our signature fish and chips and grilled garlic and chilli butter prawns on a bed of fresh crisp salad, served with a side of chips, to choose from, you’ll be spoilt for choice. Come see us! We’re also here at both George Street and George Square from 11am until late.
