Alandas

We’re a small, East Lothian based family business that first opened its doors back in 1991, with the vision of delivering the best Scottish fish and chips.

Passed down the generations for three decades, Alandas have evolved from Scottish fish and chips and branched out into Gelato, Seafood and Street Food events. 

 We took our passion for Alandas and channeled it into creating fresh, Italian gelato in the Spring of 2014 and have since taken home the Royal Highland Show Ice Cream Champion title three times.

Using only the highest quality Scottish produce, everything we sell is homemade with passion, dedication and care.

This is why our award-winning gelato is created fresh onsite everyday, with the very best milk delivered from the local farm.

We believe in sustainability here at Alandas, that’s why all our packaging is biodegradable and we have zero plastic across our stores.

You may see Alandas Street Food on your travels around Scotland. This is where we specialise in the preparation of fresh, sustainably-sourced seafood and old school fish & chips.

Travelling around Scotland, we showcase the best of Scottish fresh fish and shellfish at major events, including the Royal Highland Show, Edinburgh Christmas market, The Edinburgh Fringe and many major sporting and music events.

Locally sourced Scottish ingredients

Here at Alandas, we are very passionate about Scottish high quality produce, so all our businesses concentrate on showcasing what Scotland has to offer. 

All of our fresh ingredients are sourced locally, from our dairy farm and fresh seasonal fruit, to our local fish supplier in Musselburgh who provides us with fresh fish that is caught daily in Scottish waters.

Award-winning flavour

Every June, the Royal Highland Show celebrates the best of food, farming and rural life in Edinburgh. At Alandas, we’re reigning ice cream champions for 2017, 2018 and most recently, 2021.
At Alandas, we’re proud to hold the title of gold award winners for five years running for our exquisite flavoured gelatos.
Published by The Sunday Times, Alandas ranked in the top 5 for the best fish and chips in Scotland.
