Our top 4 things to do in Edinburgh and Surrounding Areas during Easter Holidays 2022

Are you looking for things to do in Edinburgh and the surrounding areas this Easter? Whether you want to discover new taste sensations in Edinburgh food places or want to immerse yourself in the city’s rich history, we’ve got some great ideas for you.

Take a walk

Edinburgh city centre is the perfect place for a walk. With an abundance of shops, cafes and restaurants, you won’t be short of things to buy or a bite or two if you simply fancy a leisurely stroll. Check out the quirky, independent shops around before ambling up to Edinburgh Castle for panoramic views across the city and across to Arthur’s Seat, which is perfect for a more serious, but very invigorating walk.

Located in Holyrood Park at the end of Royal Mile, Arthur’s Seat is an ancient volcano which is the main peak of the group of hills in Edinburgh,  and to get to the top takes about two hours. If you fancy doing this wonderfully scenic walk, we’d love to see you on your way up there or perhaps on your way back down for a refreshing gelato.

Find us at 1 Forrest Road Edinburgh, EH1 2QH or, if you’re planning a scenic walk a bit further out of Edinburgh this Easter, we’re also at 1 Quality Street, North Berwick, EH39 4HJ. North Berwick is home to the amazing North Berwick Law  – climb to the top for fabulous views over the coast, the Bass Rock and across to Edinburgh and the Pentlands.

Indulge in our Easter inspired, Gelato flavours

We’ve gone Easter crazy this year with four different flavours! Which one will you want to try? Choose between Creme Egg, Mini Egg, Malteser Bunny and even Hot Cross Bun. Oh and don’t forget, our legendary gelato is available in ½ litre tubs that can be made up and taken away to enjoy at home over the Easter weekend.

Take a tour

Once you feel refreshed after a cool gelato, how about experiencing one of Edinburgh’s tours? There’s so many to choose from, including the world famous Whisky Tour, Edinburgh’s Underground Vaults Tour or how about the Harry Potter Magical Guided Walking Tour where you’ll test your knowledge with an audio-visual quiz, find out your Hogwarts House, and visit Tom Riddle’s grave!

A family day out

Easter is the perfect time to enjoy a family day out and if you’re looking for somewhere near Edinburgh, you can’t beat Longniddry Bents. The longest of East Lothian’s many beaches, with sandy coves and rock pools to explore it is just 10 miles from Edinburgh’s city centre.

For families with pooches, the beach is dog friendly and you’ll find people enjoying kite surfing, bird watching and crabbing in one of the many rock pools too.

If you’re travelling by car, make a note of Longniddry Bents Car Park No.3 EH32 OPU as that’s where you’ll find us. We’ll be serving our freshly made street food from our famous food trailer. We guarantee all the family will find something to enjoy from our delicious seafood menu with its selection of sustainable and locally sourced seafood. For those in the know, you’ll be delighted to hear that our tasty honey glazed hot smoked salmon is back on the menu.

Don’t forget Alandas Fish and Chips in Prestonpans is also open over the Easter weekend, where you can enjoy mouth watering pizzas – all freshly made and cooked in our wood-fired oven – to tempt your tastebuds. Staying at home over Easter? You can also order online – just pick your favourites and we’ll deliver if you live in the local area.

We hope our Easter inspired blog has given you some fun ideas of things to do for Easter 2022, and, we look forward to welcoming you to our Alandas stores if you’re passing by… Happy Easter to you all.
